Grafton Public Library Curbside Pickup Service Policy and Procedures

The Grafton Public Library is providing patrons access to physical materials through a curbside pickup service during the period of Covid19. This procedure may be implemented at any point when the use of the building might be limited for any reason.

This is a working document that may need to be revised, as more information is available about the coronavirus.

Hours for curbside pickup:

Regular hours of operation. M-W (10-1pm & 2-5pm) Thurs-Fri (2-5pm) Sat. (9-12pm)

Follow two easy steps to pick up materials at the Grafton Public Library pick-up bins, located on the front porch of the library.

Step one: Place your items on hold.

Step two: Pick up your items.

Remember, the Grafton Public Library building remains closed to the public by order of the governor. Please do not ask to enter the building.

Frequently asked questions

How will I know my holds area ready for pickup?
You will receive a phone call or email from the librarian at the contact information on your library account.

How do I return materials?
Return your items in the outdoor wooden book drop to the left of the front door. Please do not put your book returns in the grey plastic curbside pick-up bins.

Do I need a library card?
Yes, patrons must have a Grafton Public Library card to use curbside pickup. If you do not have a regular library card, call or email the library to request a library card. 

What if I have mobility issues?
The librarian will make other accommodations for you, including placing items on the handicapped ramp, in the trunk of your car or in another easily accessible place. Please call us before you arrive to request this accommodation.

What materials are available for pickup?
All physical materials currently on the shelf are available for pickup, including books, DVDs, and audio CDs. Interlibrary loans (books from other libraries) are not readily available at this time.

Can staff look for specific items or provide reading suggestions?
Yes!  Call the librarian at 802-843-2404 or email during hours of operation.

May I place a hold via telephone?
Yes, please call the library at 802-843-2404 during regular hours of operation or leave a voice mail message.

What are you doing to protect the safety of patrons and library staff?
The contactless curbside pickup model we are using provides maximum social distancing for the safety of our patrons and our staff.

All physical materials are cleaned with disinfectant. All physical materials are quarantined for 5 days, per CDC guidelines, before being checked back out.

Staff washes their hands before and after handling materials. Only one person (the librarian) handles materials.

Patrons and staff should respect the need for physical distancing. The librarian will wear a mask when interacting with patrons outside and will keep a six foot distance or talk to you through the glass door/window if you have questions at pick-up.  This may feel uncomfortable, but is necessary to provide a safe, contactless pickup service. If you notice someone at the pickup bins on the porch, please remain in your vehicle until the previous patron has departed.
