18, 6:00-7:30 pm: Walk With Me: A Poetry Reading
with Madeleine Kunin, Politician and Poet
It is our great honor to welcome former Governor Madeleine Kunin to the library for a reading of selections from her second book of poetry, Walk With Me.
In Walk With Me, Madeleine Kunin has given us powerful poems that reflect her tenacity, her insight, and her humor. The poems focus on this late-stage of life and urge us onward with the message, “it is never too late to do what you love.” As poet Major Jackson has stated,” these poems illustrate that her insight is spectacularly fresh and tender.”
Madeleine has written four previous books describing her experiences as the first woman Governor of Vermont. In these books she highlights the obstacles that women have faced in selecting a political life, as well as the challenges of navigating the politics of elections and their aftermaths. Her book, The New Feminist Agenda, was named a New York Times notable book. She served as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education, and Ambassador to Switzerland.
Please join Madeleine for an hour of poetry and discussion about
the poems, and about navigating life with a sense of wonder and humor. Autographed
books will be available for purchase.
Seating is limited and will fill up quickly. Make sure to contact us so we can save you a seat. Light refreshments will be available and our space is fully accessible.
