Treasurer’s
Report:
We are doing
fine with both our income and expenses. Michelle recommended trustees
contact select donors to encourage contributions to the annual appeal for the
current fiscal year, as well as for the coming year. We have not met our
budgeted annual appeal goal for this FY yet.
Galen will begin transferring budgeted funds from the endowment accounts
to checking in increments.
Librarian’s
Report:
The Sled Dog
Program was a smashing success for both kids and adults. We had over 35
attendees. Summer Performer’s Grant has been approved and funds will be
coming soon. The Nature & Books Discussion Series will be on hiatus
until September. A list of the books they have enjoyed is available to
all library patrons. An Afternoon of Poetry on April 13th with Grafton
poet Nancy Richardson hosting had 11 attendees - with positive feedback from
all. The Walks of Wonder will begin in May and Melissa Hooke will offer a
watercolor workshop in June for both teens and adults. Partial 2025 grant
funding has been restored to states from the Institute for Museum and Library
Services, as per the most recent communication from the VT Dept. of Libraries.
Full financial implications are not yet known, but any reductions will most
likely impact our inter-library loan resources (courier grant).
New Business:
We are still
looking for a roofer to assess the shingled roof on the addition. Michelle will put a notice in the Grafton regarding
building use policies. The community room policy will need to be reviewed and
updated before this notice can be posted in The Grafton News.
The fiscal
year is ending on June 6 and it is time to review a draft budget for fiscal
year 2026. Mary Beth will send the form for the librarian’s performance review
to trustees. Performance reviews are scheduled and completed before any
budgeting decisions are made regarding salary.
Old
Business:
We have
various small(ish) building repairs that still need to be taken care of that
are listed in Michelle’s librarian’s report. The trustees decided that we
would hire one worker to handle all the maintenance/repair jobs instead of
using volunteers or trustees for the work, as has been done in the past.
Jay will talk to Galen about contacting people who do repair/maintenance work.
Michelle will share a pared down list of the work with Jay and Galen for their
use contacting workers.
