Grafton Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Agenda

Monday, March 23, 1016, 10:00 am

 

Hybrid Format:  John Sarnoff by zoom, present: Michelle Dufort, Mary Beth Culver,                Galen Johnson, Donna Alexandra, Lucia Corwin

 

1.      Call to Order:  10:10

 

2.  Public Comment:  email from Sheryl Fisher

 

3.  Approve minutes of last meeting:  Approved

 

4.  Treasurer’s Report:  There will be a transfer of funds from TIAA and the Jerry Stevens Fund

 

to the checking account in April, May and June.  The oil bill is substantially higher than what we

budgeted.

 

5.  Librarian’s Report:  The Public Library Annual Report is done and submitted.

 

Spanish Conversations continues, as well as Banned Books group.  Wild Pages will wrap up in

 

April, returning in September.

 

The Neighbor to Neighbor Discussion Series will continue through the summer into the fall.

 

A working group will be formed to investigate small scale solar and the new DIY heat pumps. 

 

All library purchases and upgrades for technology are on hold.  In April, we will look at using

 

the money from GIA.

 

The Budget draft for FY27 begins  on July 1, 2026.  Before that can be complGrafton Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Agenda…eted, we will need

 

the librarian and staff evaluation, identifying the building needs for FY27, including the

 

guesstimates. 

 

Galen repaired the Book Sale sign, Sarah will be maintaining the garden, and Michelle will

 

contact the GIA to replace our flags.

 

6.  Old Business:  Michelle is hard at work on the Hud Grant, making great headway.

 

She has also updated the Building, Grounds, and the Equipment Use Policy, refining and

 

clarifying our rules so that users will have clear expectations.

  

7.  New Business:  The board duties of Board will remain the same.  Mary Beth will remain

 

Chair, Galen will continue as treasurer, and Lucia will continue as secretary, Donna will take

 

the year to become familiar with the Board. 

 

The draft for the budget will be done by May with guesstimates for benefits, energy, raises,

 

town contributions, and health insurance

 

The Librarian Evaluation will be done in April, with the evaluations completed by the Trustees,

 

sent to Mary Beth for compilation, to be discussed in Executive Session.  The results and

 

decisions will be shared with Michelle.  It was agreed to change the choices for evaluating

 

be changed to 1-5.
