Treasurer’s
Report: The budget is in good shape and
on track for this year. Snow removal was up considerably from last year, but
Ivor has been reliable and has done a good job. If we decide to fix the back
roof or paint the building, we would have to look at fundraising. The trustees were in favor of staying with
TIAA as our investment firm while John & Galen look into other options that
may have lower fees.
Librarian’s
Report: There are two programs
scheduled for April, the sled dog program and a poetry reading. It is uncertain as to how our library
services may be impacted by the Federal cuts in funding. ALA will post the changes as soon as they are
released. We may have to make changes
to our inter-library loan service if funding is eliminated.
Old Business: Work has been completed on the VLCT
insurance recommended repairs and improvements from the 2023 audit. We now have new fire/smoke detection alarms.
Emergency lighting and exit signs are repaired and an additional light in the
basement has been installed. We still
need to consider an upgrade of our electrical box to 220.
New Business: The trustees need to prioritize the next
building project. Lucia will call her
roofer for an assessment of the condition of our current room & an estimate
on replacement. Michelle will generate
specs so that bidders give us comparable information. If the roof is in good shape
we will be getting estimates for painting the building, however the roof is the
top priority at the moment.
The time table for the
next annual appeal was discussed and it was decided to send the letter out
before Thanksgiving, a month earlier than in the past.
Web page upgrade
continues to be on hold as this will be fairly expensive, will require a great
deal of time, and our current webpage is functional.
