Approve minutes from last meeting: Approved
Treasurer’s Report: We are on track with the budget . Adding a capitol line to the budget for
building expenses was discussed. (note from Michelle—I’m pretty sure that this
would not belong in a monthly financial report—but would be part of any
reporting on bond funds etc.—need clarification on this) The $22,096 in our
building fund includes the remainder of the Belloff/Schmidt fund.
Librarian’s Report: The Summer Reading Survey and Summer
Performer Grant Certification/Expenditure Report has been completed and
submitted to the Department of Libraries.
Michelle will apply for the the 2025 Courier grant. A grant/directed donation has been received
from the Barber Foundation for the purchase of the Golden Dome and Read Clover
books for $500. An additional $500 was
included for our annual appeal with no spending restrictions.
Tyler Clark has completed all the work at
the library. The septic tank has been
pumped and the fire extinguishers have been inspected and and updated.
All of our computers will need to be
converted to Windows 11 as Microsoft will no longer support Windows 10 as of
mid-October 2025. We may need to
purchase at least one or more computers, as two of our computers may be
too old to upgrade.
Community use of the library has increased
and adult programs continue to be well received. The Banned Books reading group group
and the Walks of Wonder are popular. There
GES students will be painting pumpkins for the porch for the fall and the
library will have Halloween on 10/31 from 5-7pm.
The Gingerbread House Extravaganza will be
announced in the October Grafton News and will take place on December 6 from
10am to 3pm.
Old Business: We need to find someone to power wash the
building who is insured. Roofers need
to be contacted for estimates. The
historical Building Grant may be a good resource for us . John (?) Will put together a priority list of
projects that need to be attended to.
New Business: A capitol fund drive was
discussed but may have to be postponed because the Historical Society is
holding one now. However, we will
discussed start a “quiet fundraiser” by approaching past donors.
·
There was agreement to host the Select Board at the library
so that they could become more familiar with our programs, our collection
the library and be able to answer ask questions they might have. A meet and greet evening will be held on
Tuesday, October 7th at 6:30 at the library.
Mary Beth will write an annual appeals
letter for us to review. The letter
should go out before Thanksgiving.
Next Meeting: Monday, 10/27/25 at 10:00am
