Grafton Trustees Meeting Sept. 23, 2021
Attending: Lucia Corwin, Sue Allen, Jay Maciejowski;
MaryBeth Culver; Michelle Dufort
Meeting convened at 6:20 p.m.
Minutes from August meeting were approved.
Treasurer’s report:
·
Budget in good shape, with more than
$30,000 in checking. That includes one-half the town taxes that have been
received.
·
The budget also shows a $424 expense
under repairs that reflects the purchase of new overhead lights.
·
No transfers have been required to
date from the endowment.
Librarian’s report:
·
We have 14 people registered for the
Fall session of the Nature & Books Discussion series.
·
Michelle recommends asking the town
for an additional $1000 in tax support for FY 23 (note: this was approved by
the full board later in the meeting). We currently receive $5,500 per year.
·
Michelle will be taking a week off in
early October (10/4-10/9). The library will be closed during this time.
Buildings and grounds:
·
Lighting project will be completed
soon.
·
Jay will have the porch inspected (by
himself and a contractor) this fall, with work possibly scheduled for the
spring. He will draft a prospectus on the project.
Board went into executive session at 6:40 to discuss a personnel
issue. The board came out of executive session at 7:04.
Board voted to give Michelle a 5 percent salary increase, Angel a
3 percent increase. Retroactive to start of the new fiscal year.
Board approved the annual budget, which set income at $76,708 and
expenses at $74,738.
Board approved the annual appeal letter. Michelle will send the
letter to the printer.
Board voted to ask the Grafton Selectboard for an additional
$1,000. This is due to several expensive maintenance costs related to upkeep of
the library, which is a town property, as well as covid-related expenses and
other costs. Note: Sue Allen, who is a member of the Selectboard, abstained
from voting on this item.
The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. This reflects a
break for the Thanksgiving and upcoming December holiday seasons.
Board adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
